Q. How do I know if natural gas service is available in my neighborhood?
A. If you call us or email us with your street address, we can tell you whether we have a natural gas main near your home. If we do, there is generally no charge to connect your home to our main with a service line.
Q. What if my home is not near a natural gas main?
A. Depending on the distance between your home and our gas main, we may still be able to provide you with service. However, you may have to pay a portion of the cost for extending our gas main to your home.
Q. I currently heat with oil. What are the benefits of converting to natural gas?
A. If you heat with oil, you could be experiencing the following problems:

Q. I currently heat with propane. What are the advantages of converting to natural gas?
A. Since propane prices are not regulated, they can jump up suddenly when supplies get tight in winter. Heating with propane also requires you to have a storage tank on your property, and pay your supplier each time it's filled. Natural gas requires no storage tank -- we send it to your home through underground pipes, as you need it -- and you pay for natural gas only after you use it.
Converting your propane furnace, boiler, water heater, range or dryer is easy. You don't have to buy new appliances -- it's just a matter of having a qualified contractor adjust your current propane appliances to run on natural gas.
Q. I already have natural gas service in my home for my range. How can I convert my heating system to run on natural gas?
A. You'll need to have a qualified contractor remove your old furnace or boiler and replace it with a new natural gas unit. If you have oil heat, your contractor may also have to remove or decommission your oil storage tank. Depending on the size of your heating system, Elizabethtown Gas may have to replace your service line and/or meter with a larger size.

Q. Do I need to close down my business during the conversion process?A. No. Most contractors you select for converting your heating equipment to natural gas will work along with your schedule and time constraints. Many are capable of doing this conversion work with little to no disruption to you or your customers.
Q. How will the contractor remove the old heating equipment from my building and bring the new equipment into my building?
A. Old oil or propane heating equipment can be disassembled on site. Most new gas heating equipment is designed to fit through a standard 36-inch doorway either as a complete unit or in sections that can be assembled onsite.
Q. What happens to my oil tank after I convert to natural gas?
A. Your contractor must make arrangements for the decommissioning of your oil tank in accordance with all local and state code requirements.
Q. I would like to install natural gas in my facility, but I am not sure if gas is available in my area. How can I find out?
