PSE&G Offering Appliance Repair Service to Elizabethtown Gas Customers Union County residents can continue to guard against costly repair bills with WorryFree from PSE&G

May 23, 2005

(Union, NJ) While Elizabethtown Gas is phasing out its appliance service business and only honoring existing customer appliance service contracts through the end of 2005, Union County residents can protect themselves from unexpected and costly repair bills with WorryFree service from Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G).

Elizabethtown Gas began phasing out its appliance business late last year, in an effort to better focus on their core business of delivering natural gas. Current Comfort Care contracts are being honored, but the company is no longer renewing this service or offering it to new customers. Elizabethtown Gas is happy that PSE&G has stepped in to help fill the void.

“We’re pleased that PSE&G is offering appliance repair service to the utility customers we share in Union and Middlesex counties,” said Eric Martinez, vice president and general manager of Elizabethtown Gas. “It allows us to focus on our core natural gas distribution business and it gives PSE&G the opportunity to provide additional service to their customers.”

“Elizabethtown customers know who we are and understand the value of a service contract,” said Peter Cistaro, PSE&G’s vice president for gas delivery. “Presenting WorryFree as an option is an easy way to ensure that they get the repair protection they have come to depend upon.”

PSE&G’s WorryFree service contracts include comprehensive coverage for many of the parts in major home appliances, heating and cooling systems that are likely to fail. Costs for repairs are quoted before work begins, and for covered parts there is no deductible or labor charge. In addition to appliance service contracts and repairs, PSE&G can also replace heaters, water heaters or central air conditioning.

Representatives are available to answer questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To schedule an appointment or inquire about PSE&G’s WorryFree service call 1-800-350-PSEG (350-7734). General information can be found at www.pseg.com/worryfree

“You can trust PSE&G to show up when we say we will and to fix it right, the first time,” Cistaro said.

It is important to note that New Jersey’s public utilities do not offer priority service to customers with service contracts. Response times vary by seasonal demands on the utility and the nature of the customer’s problem. PSE&G’s service contracts are not designed to cover normal preventative maintenance, preexisting problems or work done by other repair technicians. Service contracts and repair services are also available from other service providers.
