Elizabethtown Gas Names Don Carter Vice President of Operations, Elizabethtown GasEric Martinez assumes new operations role at AGL Resources

August 22, 2005

UNION, NJ – August 22, 2005 – Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based AGL Resources (NYSE:ATG), today announced that Donald F. “Don” Carter has been named vice president of operations, Elizabethtown Gas. Eric Martinez, who previously served in that role since AGL’s acquisition of the company in November 2004, will assume a new assignment at AGL Resources.

“Don and his team will be able to hit the ground running without skipping a beat as we continue to serve the natural gas needs of our 265,000 residential and industrial customers in New Jersey,” said Hank Linginfelter, president of Elizabethtown Gas and senior vice president of AGL Resources’ Mid-Atlantic Region. “Eric and his team developed a strong and deep bench of leadership at Elizabethtown Gas which makes this handing of the baton to Don a seamless transition.”

Carter most recently served as region manager of Elizabethtown Gas’ Northwest New Jersey Service Area with offices in New Village, Flemington and Andover, where he was responsible for the operations and maintenance of natural gas pipelines serving thousands of homes and businesses in Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Sussex and Warren counties. He has held a number of positions with increasing responsibility throughout his two decades of service with AGL Resources.

Tony Pugliese, a 10-year veteran of Elizabethtown Gas, will assume Carter’s previous duties and has been named region manager for the Northwest Service Area. Most recently he served as director of planning and budgets at Elizabethtown Gas. Stephen Whalen, director of business operations for Elizabethtown Gas, will continue in that role and will also assume Pugliese’s former responsibilities.

“As Eric returns to Atlanta to take on a new and challenging role for the company, I want to thank him for his management and tremendous leadership during the transition from NUI’s ownership to AGL Resources,” added Linginfelter. “We have seen what Eric helped accomplish for us in New Jersey, and we need that same expertise in Atlanta to help us drive key technology process integrations, which will ultimately assist us in reaching our long range goal to transform AGL Resources into one of the nation’s most advanced gas logistics and distribution companies.”
