Elizabethtown Gas Improves in Gas Utility Customer Satisfaction Study

September 29, 2005

UNION, N.J., Sept. 29, 2005 – Elizabethtown Gas, a subsidiary of AGL Resources (NYSE: ATG), improved four points in overall customer satisfaction, making it one of the most improved utilities in the 2005 J.D. Power and Associates Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study released September 22.

“I’m proud that Elizabethtown Gas was recognized for its improvement by J.D. Power and Associates among gas utilities in customer satisfaction,” said Don Carter, vice president of Elizabethtown Gas. “Much of this was due to our improvement in customer service from 2004. Since AGL Resources acquired Elizabethtown Gas at the end of last year, we’ve been working hard on that front. It’s gratifying to see that the work we’ve done has measurable results in the J.D. Power and Associates study.”

The J.D. Power and Associates Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study, now in its fourth year, measures customer satisfaction with the 56 largest U.S. gas utility providers based on performance in five key factors: company image; price and value; billing and payment; customer service, and field service. This year, Elizabethtown Gas ranked in the second or third quartiles in the five key factors, receiving an overall rating of 101. This placed the company well above the East Coast utility average of 99 and seventh out of the 17 East Coast gas utilities included in the study. In 2004, Elizabethtown Gas received an overall rating of 97, below the East Coast utility average of 98, placing the company 12th on the list of 17.

According to J.D. Power and Associates, the 2005 Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Study is based on more than 12,000 telephone interviews with U.S. residential gas customers. Responses were collected between April and June of 2005. More information on the J.D. Power and Associates Gas Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction studies can be found at http://www.jdpower.com/ corporate site.
