Elizabethtown Gas responds to Governor’s call for economic recoveryFiles for cost recovery aimed at infrastructure enhancement

January 21, 2009

Union, N.J. January 21, 2009 – Elizabethtown Gas supports Governor Corzine’s economic stimulus plan which calls for New Jersey utilities to play a role in securing a broad economic recovery for the state.

Elizabethtown Gas responded to the governor’s call by filing a petition with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to accelerate its capital infrastructure investments and for a cost recovery mechanism to accomplish this infrastructure growth. This action would allow the company to move forward with system reliability and improvement strategies to help create jobs.

"Elizabethtown Gas has identified $60 million of infrastructure projects that can be accelerated over the next two years to support the Governor’s proposal,” said Don Carter, vice president, Elizabethtown Gas. “We have proposed a utility infrastructure rider to recover our costs for this program and filed the petition late yesterday.”
