Heating Assistance Funds Still Available for Elizabethtown Gas Customers

UNION, NJ – Feb. 26, 2015 – Following some of the recent extreme weather conditions, which have resulted in households using more natural gas to meet their energy needs, Elizabethtown Gas is encouraging customers to take advantage of programs available to help manage their bills during the heating season.

Customers still can apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a financial assistance program administered through the state Department of Community Affairs that assists qualifying households pay with their winter heating bills. Eligibility is based on income.

The program has an emergency crisis benefit component, which begins accepting applications on March 16, 2015. The enrollment period ends on April 30, 2015.

For more information on how to qualify for LIHEAP or to locate an application agency in their area, residents should dial 2-1-1 or call 800.510.3102. Those who call 2-1-1 also may request a referral to one of the many other state and local energy assistance programs that are available.

Customers can take control of their heating costs with the Elizabethtown Gas energySMART program, which includes incentives, rebates and tools. The company also has an online account management tool called My Account that analyzes energy use and compares past and present usage.
