New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Approves Rate Changes for Elizabethtown Gas; Bill Decrease for Customers

UNION, N.J. – September 23, 2020 – Elizabethtown Gas, subsidiary of SJI (NYSE: SJI), today announced that the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approved changes to its rates, including those related to the Company’s accelerated infrastructure program.  These rate changes, combined with those related to the Company’s Basic Gas Supply Service, approved earlier this month, are effective October 1 and result in a $0.04 monthly net bill decrease for customers, primarily driven by lower gas costs.

“Our commitment to deliver safe, reliable, affordable service to our approximately 300,000 Elizabethtown Gas customers shapes our strategy and drives our decisions,” said Christie McMullen, President and Chief Operating Officer, Elizabethtown Gas. “The investments we have made in infrastructure and customer service as well as our prudent management of gas commodity costs make it possible for us to continue to meet this commitment – delivering the quality service our customers expect and deserve.”

Customers experiencing difficulty paying their bills, including customers financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, are encouraged to contact Elizabethtown Gas to determine their eligibility for energy assistance programs and deferred payment arrangements.
